Flower Bag
Pattern:Flowers, Cross body bag
YarnUK, 3 ply dk yarn, I used Aldi yarn, so crafty A Green250g B Yarn scraps for flowers, Each flower is 3g of yarn Hook used:5mm H/8, 4mm G/6 Other supplies needed: Stitch markers (SM), darning needle, 2cm Buttons or larger, sewing needle, Thread for buttons (I used the working yarn) Stitches used in this project MC magic circle, SC single crochet, CH chain, TR treble, SS slip stitch Notes: * The following pattern has US instructions. * Each photo shows the round number you are working on. * Stitches marked in parentheses are in the same stitch Example: (2sc) means 2sc into the same stitch * Washing: Read care label on chosen yarn usually handwash only * Finished size: 26 width x 22 height x 7cm depth, (10 x 8.5 x 3") |
Round number, Description
Front of bag, Under flap
1. Start with using 2 strands of A, chain, ch42
2. Skip ch2, (counts as 1sc) *(sc1, ch1, dc1), skip 2ch, * Repeat till end, Last stitch to be skip last sc, 1sc, [13 clusters of sc1, ch1, dc1]
3. ch1, (counts as 1sc) skip 1st sc and dc, *(sc1, ch1, dc1) into ch space, skip skip 1sc and 1dc, * Repeat till end, skip last sc, 1sc, [13 clusters of sc1, ch1, dc1]
4. to 25Repeat round 3
Back of bag, Including flap for the top of the bag
1. to 25Repeat front of bag
26. to 39Put stitch markers on the front of each of the squares, Repeat round 3
40. ch1, sc40, [41sc] The next few rounds will make the item go out a little at the sides.
41. BUTTON HOLES:
ch1, (counts as 1sc) turn miss 1st st, sc8, ch3, (miss 3 st) sc7, ch3, (miss 3 st), sc7, ch3, (miss 3 st), sc9 [32sc, 3xch3] Note: for bigger button holes add more chain stitches.
42. ch1, (counts as 1sc), turn miss 1st st, sc8, sc2 around ch3, sc7, sc2 around ch3, sc7, sc2 around ch3, sc9 [38]
43. ch1, (counts as 1sc), 37sc [38] Finish off
Bottom and side of bag
1. ch11, turn
2. Skip ch2, (counts as 1sc) sc9 [10sc]
3. ch1, (counts as 1sc) turn, skip 1st st, sc9 [10sc]
4. to 113 repeat round 3, This part is for the sides and bottom of the bag only, if you would like to keep the wide style strap just continue with repeating round 3 until desired length.
Front of bag, Under flap

1. ch1, turn, ss1, sc6, [6sc, 1ss]
2. ch1, turn, skip 1st st, sc5 [6sc]
3. to 144 repeat round 2, Make more or less rows depending on the length you require.
145. Finish off and leave 3 meters of both strands of yarn, Using a darning needle attatch to the round 1 of bottom and bag section, ensure strap is not twisted before attaching.
146. Seperate both strands and weave in one strand to other side of strap.

2. ch1, turn, skip 1st st, sc5 [6sc]
3. to 144 repeat round 2, Make more or less rows depending on the length you require.
145. Finish off and leave 3 meters of both strands of yarn, Using a darning needle attatch to the round 1 of bottom and bag section, ensure strap is not twisted before attaching.
146. Seperate both strands and weave in one strand to other side of strap.
Attaching bag straps to bag
1. With Front side facing forward (Stitch marker at front) Attach stitch markers to bottom centre of front piece and bag strap, Wide end at the bottom. Line up bag and attach stitch markers to both bottom corners of bag and strap together.
2. Keep the non working yarn in place by using a clothes peg and weaving a small ball.
Working yarn, weave in until you get to the start of the bag back, weave around the edge of both bag and bag strap. Always keeping check that it is aligned to the stitchmarkers. Note weave in an extra stitch at the start and end of each round to secure.
3. Repeat round 2 with the back of the bag. At the start just weave accross strap and not down. Start weaving around the side.

Finish off
Weave in all ends on bag leaving a long piece near to the front, Use this to sew on buttons or use thread. Place stitch markers where buttons should go for bag closure and sew on.
Use the yarn from the start of each flower to sew on the button. weave into the back of the flower.
Layout flowers onto the bag and choose your favourite design. Sew on using either yarn from flower or thread. Only sew on around round 3 and leave petals loose.
